Fredrik, a Swedish national, worked for several years with the Swedish CAA, first a rulemaking officer, then as legal adviser and finally as manager for the legal department.
He joined EASA in September 2004 as one of the first to be employed there. He was EASA's acting Chief Legal Adviser in the period September 2004 - March 2006 and is now Section Manager for the General Legal Advice Section in the Agency's Legal Department which resides in the Executive Directorate. In addition he is the Agency's Deputy Chief Legal Adviser.
In addition to his LLM from Uppsala University where he graduated with his final thesis "EC Air Transport Regulation and the Chicago Convention: a study of possible violations", Fredrik has a second master's degree in International Air and Space Law from the International Institute of Air and Space Law at the University of Leiden; his Leiden thesis looked closely at the legal feasibility to introduce a truly Global Airworthiness Code and Worldwide Type Certification Process.
Fredrik has a technical background with an upper secondary school degree in mechanical engineering and Military service as a Battalion Engineer with the Swedish Armed Forces.
Fredrik is a private pilot with some 400 flight hours SEP. He has also worked several years in the airport environment as a handling coordinator and ramp/load-control agent at Arlanda Airport outside Stockholm.
